Scoliosis is defined as a curvature of the spine, when viewed from front to back, accompanied by rotation of the vertebrea . 80% of scoliosis is idiopathic (of unknown origin). Current medical treatment protocol is to observe the curve until it reaches 30 degrees. The more the curve progresses the less there is a chance for success at treating the curve non-surgically. This makes early detection and early treatment extremely important if non-surgical treatment is to be successful.
At the South Brooklyn treatment center for scoliosis, we use a combination of SpineCor bracing, Schroath exercises, neurological rehab and chiropractic to achieve a decrease in pain as well as an attempt to arrest progression.
The Spinecor brace was developed by Orthopedic surgeons at Montreal Childrens Hospital. For more information visit spinecor.com
